MGC - True family heirloom restored and returned for 4th generation

1968 MGC family owned from new only 45k miles originally suppled with uprated head, carbs and exhaust this car spent its first 10 years in the UK before moving to Texas, returning around 2012.

We replaced sills, floors, lower half rear wings, boot floor, rear panel and bulk head repairs. The car was then resprayed in it’s original Red by one of our trusted local painters.

Once we refitted the engine & gearbox all the mechanicals were heavily serviced by ourselves.  This included uprating the front suspension to improve handling & help cope with the weight of the massive 3 ltr 6 cylinder engine.

The interior was left largely original.
Under it’s original leather cover the bakelite rim of the steering wheel was disintegrating.  We sourced a replacement wheel but reused the original centre horn push maintaining the car’s character.  

Yesterday, proud owners Peter and his father Tony arrived for the ceremonial fitting of the hub caps before taking the rest of the day to drive home through the Welsh mountains.

 

 

 

Once in a life time find!

This once in a life time find of a new old stock Jaguar XJ series 1 body shell has come to us as part of an XJ12 restoration project.   Once the car has been acid dipped to remove the surface rust which has accumulated over the past 50 years Mobile Welding Services will be carrying out some welding repairs and fitting the outer panels before returning the car to it's owner for reassembly and paint.   UPDATE...... After collecting the shell from the Acid Dippers, Acid dipping has revealed that the boot floor, rear seat pan and a few other small areas will require welding. These areas give the impression that the shell may have been stored outside at some point in its life.   Click back soon for the next update.  This is an extremely unusual and rare find.   If anyone has any information as to the history behind this unique body shell please do get in touch using the link below.
